Yes, yes, I know. Somewhere down the line I probably said "I'll never be part of a playgroup". Just like I said "I'll NEVER drive a mini van". Well, times have changed and although I hate the mini van for it's sheer bulk (this is coming from a woman who used to drive a trailered 31 foot 7 ton boat behind her every day to work) I must admit I do love it for it's roominess and ability to pack in unbelievable amounts of Costco shopping once a month. Really-we got the van more for the Costco trips then for the baby.
Back to the play group....this play group is cool! It is comprised of women who live around Laupahoehoe and had babies around the same time. There are about 6 of us moms (and one Grandma) with 6-8 children ranging in age from 8 months to 22 months and they are ALL boys EXCEPT for LILY, the token female of the toddler gang! She loves chasing around her harem of little men and every once and a while she actually catches one! Today it was a bit hot so Lily took it upon herself to remove half her clothes. Kyle was right with her! Pretty soon we will have a bunch of naked toddlers cruising around. Who needs clothes anyway? They seem to be much happier when we DON'T dress them up!
One of the moms, Beth, is great at organizing projects for the kids-coloring, etc-(and she always has freshly baked cookies), but most of the time the kids just bounce off each other and the various toys. Kyle's favorite part is the food. I had no idea what a little piglet he is! the moment the food comes out, there's Kyle, grabbing and stuffing anything and everything in his mouth. He just basically eats the whole time. And plays. It is really great for him because otherwise Kyle would get no interaction with kids his own age. And it is fun for us also. Lisa, Lily's grandmother, organized foot massages and pedicures for Mother's Day and today she brought in little wooden bench parts with which we all got to build our own benches for the little ones-such a super cool idea! Lisa still has her little wooden bench 40 years and many relatives later!
So, as I said before...this play group is COOL...........................
