We are excited to announce the arrival of our first GEESE! We acquired a pair of mature Pilgrim geese from some clients of ours and they are awesome! Pilgrims are the only goose species in that you can tell the male from the female by their appearance-the male is white with blue eyes, the female gray. These two are very mellow for geese-they do not chase you or attack, however, they are very demanding when it comes to feeding time (they insist on bread) even though they are primarily grass eaters. As with all geese, they are very good watch animals, honking anytime someone arrives. We have named them Bonnie and Clyde and are hoping once they settle in that they may give us little goslings. Also with the geese came small white silky bantam chicken and a bantam Japanese black tail hen. She is the size of a dove and just the cutest thing!
The other new arrival is a little brown duckling (courtesy of the goose people, also). Right now he is living with a clutch of chicks we are raising in the bird room and is now twice as big as the chicks!
Stay tuned for our next arrivals right after Easter.....30 bantam chicks of various breeds!
