OPHELIA IS FAT

We got our "mini" pot belly pig from my sister in November of 2006. I'll never forget the date because it was the same weekend the huge earthquake hit, making it hard to get Becky, my sister, back to Oahu. The pig, Ophelia, was a refugee from the Honolulu Zoo. She was stationed in the keiki petting portion, but took a dislike to all the screaming, crying, poking, teasing kiddies (and adults, for that matter!)-can you blame her? So my sis, who works at the zoo in the reptile department, asked if we wanted her. Of course we did! So she was shipped out in a big dog kennel and arrived at her new home in good shape. She had been raised in a house as a baby (sleeping in the bed) and then went straight to the zoo. We think she had never seen real dirt she could wallow in. So, needless to say, she is in hog heaven now, living the good life, just relaxing with no worries. For the first year I was able to keep her fit and trim. Then the chickens arrived. It was impossible to feed the chickens without the pig nosing in on the action. Well, take a look at the photos and see the results for yourself! She's a grumpy piggy, but we love her. *The first photos are when we first got her, the last photos are recent*
